Omobiz! Vol.6-7 How Can a Club Generate Revenue Beyond Sponsorship? Ideas from a Live Audience |
FC PHOENIX Reiya Tanaka Episode 7
How can the wish to support a football club help sustain its activities? This episode of Omobiz is the first half of the after-talk following the conversation with Tetsuya Miki, Zack, and Reiya Tanaka, owner of FC PHOENIX. Members of the live audience join in to explore revenue beyond sponsorship and the club’s relationship with its local community.
The discussion begins by asking how far the club relies on sponsorship income. Ideas include branded handheld fans, other merchandise, and crowdfunding. A useful question for readers is how supporters can choose a way to get involved that suits them: watching a match, buying merchandise, or joining an activity. Creating more small points of contact is an idea that also resonates with local initiatives and community organizations.
One proposal is to contribute to the local area by working with companies and organizations in Minato City, Tokyo. Asking what the club and its neighbors could do together may open up new opportunities for collaboration. Learning about a potential partner’s activities and challenges, then exploring what football could contribute, offers a practical starting point. How might we turn a proposal like this into something concrete in our own work?
The conversation also highlights conduct that left an impression at a match: when substituted, players leave the pitch promptly by the nearest route rather than wasting time. Perhaps a larger philosophy becomes visible through such everyday choices. Are the values we care about apparent to others in the way we act? Alongside revenue, this episode invites us to consider what makes a club one that people want to support.
Later, a participant suggests communicating the club’s concept to the world from the outset. This brings local relationships and international communication into the same conversation. For readers, it offers a prompt to look widely for people who share an interest in an idea, rather than defining its potential solely by its current scale. These are possibilities being explored together, not measures presented as already implemented.
Who could we work with, what could we create together, and how could others participate in sustaining our activities? This conversation approaches those questions through accessible ideas. There may already be people who want to support your work but do not know how to get involved. What invitation could you offer them? Watch the episode to follow the ideas that emerge when the live audience joins the discussion.
