発明との出会いが、医療の未来をひらく！

「どんなことがあっても、自分にとっては最高の一日になる。」そんなコンセプトで、Creative Guildのコアメンバーの有賀 悦江さんがお届けするラジオ番組「It’s always sunny! くもの上はいつも晴れ」。第8回のゲストは、再び登場となる発明塾 塾長の楠浦 崇央さんと、がん免疫に関する研究と事業化に取り組むイミュニティリサーチ株式会社代表取締役の安河内 正文さんです。今回は、発明と知財を通じてつながったお二人のご縁、大学発ベンチャーとしての挑戦、そして医療に残された課題をどう社会実装へつなげていくのかが語られました。

安河内さんが代表を務めるイミュニティリサーチは、埼玉医科大学の研究成果を起点に生まれた大学発ベンチャーです。取り組みのテーマは、免疫を通じて医療に残された課題へ向き合うこと。特に、がん治療における免疫チェックポイント阻害剤の効果予測に関わる研究開発を進めています。研究室で生まれた発見を、特許化し、事業化し、必要とする患者さんや医療現場へ届けていく。その道のりには、科学だけでなく、知財、経営、資金調達、パートナーシップなど、いくつもの挑戦があります。

この回のききどころは、「発明」との出会いが、人の人生と社会の未来を変えるという点です。研究成果や知財は、それだけでは社会に届きません。そこに可能性を見出し、仲間を集め、資金を調達し、事業として形にしていく人がいて初めて、発明は社会実装へと進んでいきます。安河内さんにとって、大学で生まれた発明との出会いは、まさに人生を大きく動かす転機となりました。

今回の重要なインサイトは、発明とは“ひらめき”であると同時に、“未来への責任”でもあるということです。よい技術があるだけでは十分ではありません。それを必要としている人に届けるためには、知財戦略、事業化、医療現場との接続、企業との連携など、いくつもの壁を越える必要があります。イミュニティリサーチが免疫細胞解析技術をもとに、診断や治療の可能性を広げようとしている取り組みからは、研究と社会実装のあいだにあるリアルな挑戦が見えてきます。

また、楠浦さんとの対話を通じて浮かび上がるのは、知財は守るためだけのものではなく、未来をひらくための道具であるという視点です。発明を社会に届けるには、技術そのものを見る力と同時に、人との出会い、問いの立て方、そして「これは未来につながる」と信じて動く力が欠かせません。楠浦さんが取り組んできた発明塾や知財戦略の実践は、発明を“思いつき”で終わらせず、事業や社会の変化へつなげるための大切な橋渡しになっています。

How an Encounter with Invention Opens the Future of Medicine

“No matter what happens, each day can still become the best day for you.” Guided by this concept, Creative Guild core member Yoshie Aruga hosts the radio program It’s Always Sunny! Above the Clouds, the Sun Is Always Shining. In this eighth episode, the guests are Takahisa Kusuura, founder of Hatsumei Juku and a specialist in invention and intellectual property strategy, and Masafumi Yasukochi, President and CEO of ImmuniT Research Inc., a company working on cancer immunology research and commercialization. The episode explores how their connection was formed through invention and intellectual property, how a university-born discovery became a venture, and how medical innovation can be brought into society.

ImmuniT Research, led by Yasukochi, is a university-originated venture born from research at Saitama Medical University. Its focus is to address unresolved challenges in medicine through the lens of the immune system. In particular, the company works on technologies related to predicting the effectiveness of immune checkpoint inhibitors in cancer treatment. Turning a discovery born in a research environment into something that can reach patients and medical professionals requires more than science alone. It also requires intellectual property, business development, funding, partnerships, and the determination to continue moving forward.

One of the most compelling points of this episode is that an encounter with invention can change both a person’s life and the future of society. Research results and intellectual property do not reach society on their own. They become meaningful only when someone recognizes their potential, protects them, gathers partners, secures resources, and turns them into a real business or service. For Yasukochi, encountering a university-born invention became a major turning point in his life.

A central insight from this episode is that invention is not only a moment of inspiration, but also a responsibility toward the future. Having a promising technology is not enough. To deliver it to the people who need it, one must overcome many barriers—intellectual property strategy, commercialization, connection with medical settings, and collaboration with companies. ImmuniT Research’s efforts to expand possibilities for diagnosis and treatment through immune cell analysis reveal the real challenges that exist between research and social implementation.

To bring an invention into society, we need not only the ability to understand technology, but also encounters with people, the ability to ask meaningful questions, and the courage to believe that a certain discovery can lead to the future. Kusuura’s work through Hatsumei Juku and his practice in intellectual property strategy serve as a bridge that helps invention move beyond ideas and toward business and social impact.
