答えを急がず、仕事と人生に余白を。Creative Guild Books『ヨハクさん、いる？』日本語版・英語版を刊行

Creative Guild Booksから、新しい本『ヨハクさん、いる？　余白があれば、仕事も人生も、きっともっと楽しくなる』を刊行しました。あわせて英語版『Yohaku-san, Are You There? — With White Space, Work and Life Can Be More Fun』も制作し、日本語・英語それぞれをKindle版とペーパーバック版でお届けします。

本書をつくったのは、渋谷健、菅原正樹、伊藤昌明、千葉祐太朗、新井文子の五人です。異なる仕事や立場を持つ仲間が、毎週のように近況や違和感を持ち寄り、答えを急がずに話し続けた時間から、この物語は生まれました。今回の出版は、対話から生まれた知恵を、次の誰かの対話や一歩へと手渡していくCreative Guildの新たな試みでもあります。

人生100年時代、AIの進化、働き方の変化、リスキリング。私たちの周りには、「変わらなければ」「もっと学ばなければ」という言葉があふれています。けれど、すでに頑張っている人にとって、その正しさが、かえって心と身体を固くしてしまうこともあります。

本書の舞台は、商店街の路地裏にある小さな古民家。仕事帰りに集まる五人と、猫の姿をした少し不思議な妖怪「ヨハクさん」が、お茶や少しのお酒を囲みながら、九つの夜にわたって語り合います。

「変わらなきゃ、が動けなくすることもある」

「なんかしんどい、には理由がある」

「仕事を人生の中に置き直す」

「道具は補助輪くらいがちょうどいい」

話題は、仕事とお金、見えない負担、役割と境界線、休むこと、AIとの付き合い方、そして一人でバランスを取ろうとしないことへと広がっていきます。しかし、ヨハクさんは答えを教えません。急いで結論を出す代わりに、「今日は問いだけ持ち帰ってもいい」と、お茶を差し出します。

この本は、正解や即効性のある解決策を並べたビジネス書ではありません。五人が重ねてきた実際の対話をもとに、迷いや笑い、言葉になりきらない感覚を残しながら、一つの物語として編み直しました。英語版も、AI翻訳を活用しつつ、人の手で編集・確認し、日本語版が持つ静かな温度とユーモアを届けることを大切にしています。

本の中には、誰も座っていない座布団と、ひとつの湯呑みが用意されています。それは、読者のための席です。忙しさの中で少し立ち止まりたいとき、仕事や人生について誰かと話したくなったとき、この本を開いてみてください。

Without Rushing for Answers, Make Space for Work and Life:
Creative Guild Books Publishes Yohaku-san, Are You There? in Japanese and English

Creative Guild Books has published a new book, ヨハクさん、いる？　余白があれば、仕事も人生も、きっともっと楽しくなる. We have also created an English edition, Yohaku-san, Are You There? — With White Space, Work and Life Can Be More Fun. Both the Japanese and English editions are available in Kindle and paperback formats.

The book was created by Takeshi Shibuya, Masaki Sugawara, Masateru Ito, Yutaro Chiba, and Ayako Arai. The story grew out of time spent together almost every week, as five collaborators with different professions and perspectives shared recent experiences and lingering concerns without rushing toward answers. This publication is also a new Creative Guild initiative: passing wisdom born through dialogue on to someone else’s next conversation or next step.

The idea of a 100-year life, advances in AI, changing ways of working, reskilling—everywhere we turn, we hear that we must change and keep learning. Yet for people who are already doing their best, even that sense of what is “right” can sometimes make both mind and body tense.

The story takes place in a small traditional house tucked away in a back lane off a shopping street. Five people gather there after work with Yohaku-san, a slightly mysterious, cat-shaped yōkai. Over tea and the occasional drink, they talk through nine nights.

“What is work, really?”

“Sometimes, ‘I have to change’ is what keeps us stuck.”

“There is a reason behind feeling somehow exhausted.”

“Putting work back in its place within life.”

“Tools work best as training wheels.”

Their conversations move through work and money, invisible burdens, roles and boundaries, rest, how to live with AI, and why we do not have to maintain balance all by ourselves. Yohaku-san, however, does not provide answers. Instead of rushing toward a conclusion, Yohaku-san offers a cup of tea and says, “It’s all right to take only the question home today.”

This is not a business book filled with ready-made answers or quick fixes. Drawing on the five creators’ real conversations, it has been reshaped into a single story while preserving moments of uncertainty and laughter, along with feelings that had not yet found words. The English edition was produced with the help of AI translation, then edited and reviewed by people, with particular care given to carrying over the quiet warmth and humor of the Japanese edition.

Inside the book, there is an empty floor cushion and a single teacup. Together, they mark a seat for the reader. Open the book when you want to pause amid the busyness, or when you feel like talking with someone about work and life.
