Let’s Lower the Hurdles in Life!
Creating a Future Where Everyone Can Take on Challenges in Their Own Way — Takahisa Kusuura, TechnoProducer

Creative Guild is a community that brings together people from different places and backgrounds, starting in Minato City, who want to create enjoyable moments together. Through our Guild Directory, we introduce the unique and inspiring people we’ve connected with along the way. This time, we’re delighted to introduce Takahisa Kusuura, CEO of TechnoProducer Inc. Through initiatives such as new business development support using inventions and intellectual property, as well as his Invention School, he has been creating opportunities for people to learn and grow. Guided by the idea of “lowering the hurdles in life,” he continues to help people take that first step toward their future and pursue new challenges in their own way.

Kusuura studied mechanical engineering at Kyoto University before moving on to graduate studies in applied energy engineering, an interdisciplinary field focused on addressing real-world challenges. After graduation, he worked on motorcycle engine development at Kawasaki Heavy Industries and wind power-related new business development at Komatsu, before gaining entrepreneurial experience in the nanotechnology field. In 2008, he founded TechnoProducer, where he has supported new business creation through the strategic use of patent information. In 2010, he established Hatsumei Juku (Invention School), a program focused on developing people by helping them nurture ideas together. More recently, through his company’s sponsorship of rocket-building workshops, he has connected with parents and children facing questions about education and the future. His activities now extend into creating opportunities for learning, career exploration, and new challenges in the age of AI.

What Kusuura values most is the idea of “lowering the hurdles in life.” Rather than searching for the right answer or setting ambitious goals from the very beginning, why not simply start by trying something that catches your interest? As we gain different experiences, we build more “drawers” of knowledge and experience, while also developing our “antennas” for noticing interesting possibilities around us. With more options coming into view, we can begin to choose what we genuinely want to do, rather than worrying about how others see us. It doesn’t matter whether we’re taking the lead or supporting someone else’s challenge. Both successes and setbacks can become valuable lessons. By taking small steps and continuing steadily, we gradually discover our own path and open up new possibilities.

At the same time, today’s society often expects us to find the right answers quickly, whether in education, career choices, or work. We feel pressure to make use of our strengths, become someone important, or avoid failure. Without realizing it, these expectations may be raising the hurdles in our lives. Meanwhile, advances in AI have made knowledge and information more accessible than ever. But isn’t what really matters our ability to experience things for ourselves, feel, think, and make our own choices? What would it take to create a world where both children and adults could explore more freely, learn through experience, and develop their own potential?

As the world becomes increasingly complex, there are no predetermined right answers to the challenges ahead. That’s why it’s more important than ever for each of us to move toward a future that truly reflects who we are, rather than simply following a path chosen by someone else. Kusuura creates opportunities for people to discover their potential through different experiences, while continuously lowering the hurdles that might prevent them from taking action. We don’t have to accomplish something extraordinary from the start. We can simply try something that sounds interesting, or lend a hand to someone else’s challenge. The discoveries and lessons that emerge along the way can open doors to possibilities we never imagined. It’s a mindset we’d love to see everyone embrace!
