Guild名鑑 No.209　Victory Family Centre Japan 牧師　チー・キットさん

港区を起点にいろんなところで働く・暮らす、楽しい時間を創りたい人たちによるコミュニティCreative Guild。このギルド名鑑では、そんなCreative Guildでつながったユニークな方々をご紹介しています。今回ご紹介するのは、キリスト教会 Victory Family Centre Japanで牧師として活動するチー・キットさん。シンガポールでの経験を経て日本へ。現在は、一人ひとりが自分自身の人生の意味や目的を見出し、未来へ漕ぎ出していくための、灯台のようなコミュニティづくりに取り組んでいます。

チー・キットさんは、シンガポールで政府系の仕事に携わった後、自身の人生の意味や役割を見つめ直す中で、聖書の教えを少しずつ深めていきました。その積み重ねの中で、人が自分らしく生きるための支えとなる考え方やつながりを届けることが、自分自身の使命だと感じるようになり、牧師の道へ。現在はVictory Family Centre Japanの牧師として日曜礼拝を中心に活動しながら、各地で英会話の場なども開催。文化や立場、言語を超えて人と人が自然につながり、新しい一歩を踏み出せる機会づくりに取り組んでいます。

そんなチー・キットさんが大切にしているのは、「人生の目的」の価値です。人生の目的を知ること。それは、自分の人生がどんな意味を持つのか、なぜ生き、誰とつながり、何を為していくのかを探究することです。しかし、その目的は一人で簡単に見つけられるものではありません。たくさんの対話や経験、そして自分とは異なる視点との出会いがあって、少しずつ見えてくるものです。そして目的を知ったなら、今度はその目的に向かって、たくさんの助けを得ながら人生の旅を進めていくことが大切になります。だからこそチー・キットさんは、一人ひとりがその道を見失わないように、灯台のようなコミュニティをつくり、守り続けているのです。

人類の長い歴史の中で、人は文化や時代を超えて、自分はなぜ生きるのか、何を為すためにここにいるのかを問い続けてきました。それは決して特別なことではなく、人が自分自身の人生を歩むうえで、とても自然な営みです。一方で現代では、とくにビジネスシーンで「パーパス（Purpose：目的）」というカタカナ言葉が広がるほどに、それがどこか特別で難しいものとして扱われ、自分ごととして語りにくくなっている面もあります。だからこそ今、もっと身近な対話の中で、自分自身の在り方や人生の目的を考える場が必要なのではないでしょうか。

チー・キットさんが取り組んでいるのは、まさに人生の目的を探究するための場づくり。それは単なる交流の場ではなく、一人ひとりが自分自身の在り方を見つめ直し、未来に向かって歩み出すための場。しかも、体温が伝わるリアルな“ひと”と“ひと”のつながりを地域ごとに育み、それらをデジタルも活用しながらつないでいく。こうした小さく地道なアクションこそが、やがて本当の意味で世界を動かす力に変わっていくに違いありません。Creative Guildでも、チー・キットさんのように、人生の目的を探究する旅をみんなで楽しんでいきましょう。

Creative Guild is a community of people who live and work across different places, beginning from Minato City, and who want to create joyful moments together. In this Guild Directory, we introduce unique individuals connected through Creative Guild. This time, we introduce Chee Kit, a pastor serving at the Christian church Victory Family Centre Japan. After gaining experience in Singapore, he came to Japan. Today, he is working to build lighthouse-like communities where each person can discover the meaning and purpose of their own life and set sail toward the future.

Chee Kit once worked in a government-related role in Singapore. Over time, as he reflected on the meaning and role of his own life, he gradually deepened his understanding of the teachings of the Bible. Through that journey, he came to feel that his own calling was to share ideas and relationships that support people in living more authentically. This led him to become a pastor. Today, as a pastor at Victory Family Centre Japan, he is mainly involved in Sunday worship gatherings, while also organizing English conversation opportunities in different places. Through these activities, he creates opportunities for people to connect naturally across cultures, positions, and languages, and to take new steps forward.

What Chee Kit values deeply is the importance of “life purpose.” To know one’s life purpose is to explore what meaning one’s life holds, why one lives, whom one connects with, and what one is here to do. Yet such a purpose is not something people can easily discover alone. It gradually becomes visible through many conversations, experiences, and encounters with perspectives different from one’s own. And once a person discovers that purpose, the next important step is to continue the journey of life toward it, while receiving support from many others. That is why Chee Kit continues to build and protect lighthouse-like communities so that each person does not lose sight of their path.

Throughout the long history of humanity, people have continued to ask, across cultures and eras, why they live and what they are here to accomplish. This is not something special or unusual. It is a very natural part of walking one’s own life. Today, however, especially in the business world, the word “purpose” has become popular as a borrowed term, and the more it spreads, the more it can feel like something special, difficult, or distant from one’s own life. That is why we may now need places where people can think about their own way of being and the purpose of their lives through more familiar, everyday conversations.

What Chee Kit is creating is precisely a place for exploring life purpose. It is not merely a place for casual exchange, but a place where each person can reflect on who they are and begin moving toward the future. Moreover, he is nurturing real, human connections — person to person, with warmth and presence — in each local area, while also connecting those relationships through digital tools. These small and steady actions will surely become a force that moves the world in the truest sense.
