港区を起点にいろんなところで働く・暮らす、楽しい時間を創りたい人たちによるコミュニティCreative Guild。このギルド名鑑ではそんなCreative Guildでつながったユニークな方々をご紹介しています。今回ご紹介するのは、六本木にあるコワーキングスペース BLINKで活躍されているローラン・フォンテーヌさんです。国や世代の壁を越えて、“ひと”の温かさで多様なコミュニティをつなぎ、新たなビジネスと社会の可能性を自然体で拓いていっています。

ローランさんはフランス出身。日本でフランス語会話学校の先生やディレクターを務めてきました。現在は六本木ヒルズのすぐ近くにある、外国人もたくさん集まるインターナショナルなコワーキングスペース BLINKでビジネス・デベロップメント・マネージャーとして活躍。日本人と外国人を交え、いろんな分野をつないで、新しいビジネスの可能性を拓いていくため、BLINKでコミュニティ・イベントを開催するだけでなく、自らも積極的に新しいネットワークを築いていっています。

そんなローランさんが大切にしているのは、“ひと”と“ひと”の温かなつながりです。それは、国籍や言語、文化の違いにとらわれることなく、誰もが自分らしくいられる、自然体の場づくりでもあります。一人ひとりが多様であり、違いがあるからこそ、出会いが面白く、学びや気づきが生まれます。また、“ひと”と“ひと”をつなぐことは、その先にあるコミュニティ同士をつなぐことにも自然につながります。それはより物事を多面的に捉えること、新しい発想を広げること、そして未来への新しい扉を開くことを可能にしていきます。

グローバル化が進み、デジタル環境が発展した現代社会は、多様な人とつながる機会に溢れています。一方でそこには多少なりともチャレンジが必要であり、だれもが気軽に飛び込めるわけではありません。それはときに見えない壁を創り、コミュニケーションを表面的なものに留め、結果的にコミュニティを内向きにさせ、停滞を生み出してしまいます。外国人観光客が増え、日本に住む外国人も増えている日本において、この“見えない壁”を超えていくことは、未来に進むための大きな課題です。

Bridging Diverse Communities:
How Laurent Fontaine Is Building a Borderless, “Warm” Future

Creative Guild is a community formed by people who want to work and live in different places, starting from Tokyo’s Minato Ward, all while creating fun and engaging experiences. In our “Guild Directory,” we introduce some of the unique individuals connected through Creative Guild. Today, we feature Laurent Fontaine, who is active at the BLINK coworking space in Roppongi. By bringing people together across countries and generations, and by emphasizing the warmth of personal connections, Laurent naturally creates new possibilities for business and society.

Originally from France, Laurent has worked as both a teacher and director at a French-language school in Japan. Currently, he serves as a Business Development Manager at BLINK, an international coworking space located right near Roppongi Hills. At BLINK, not only does he host community events to connect Japanese and international professionals from diverse fields, but he also proactively creates new networks himself. Through these efforts, Laurent helps open the door to fresh business opportunities.

What Laurent values most is the warmth of authentic person-to-person connections. This means creating an environment where everyone can feel comfortable being themselves, regardless of nationality, language, or cultural differences. The fact that each individual is unique—and that we all differ from one another—is precisely what makes encounters so interesting and sparks learning and new perspectives. Moreover, linking people also leads to connections between different communities, which naturally broadens viewpoints, fosters innovative ideas, and opens new doors to the future.

In today’s society, globalized and enabled by digital technology, opportunities to connect with diverse people abound. Yet it still requires some degree of courage to jump in, and not everyone can do so effortlessly. Sometimes invisible barriers can arise, keeping communication at a surface level and causing communities to become inward-facing, which can ultimately stifle growth. In Japan, where foreign visitors and residents are on the rise, overcoming these “invisible barriers” is a major challenge for building a brighter future.

That’s precisely why actions like Laurent’s—connecting one person to another and, by extension, linking diverse communities in a natural, ongoing way—are so important. It may sound like a challenge, but it’s not insurmountable. All you need is a bit of warmth, a touch of courage, and a healthy dose of curiosity. Creative Guild’s vision of creating a “fun” future always starts with a single step.
