港区を起点にいろんなところで働く・暮らす、楽しい時間を創りたい人たちによるコミュニティCreative Guild。このギルド名鑑では、そんなCreative Guildでつながったユニークな方々をご紹介しています。今回ご紹介するのは、Creative GuildのパートナーでもあるFC PHOENIX監督・砂川 太希さん。同チームの掲げる理念「平和サッカー」を起点に、マインドからのチーム創りを通じて、ピッチの内外に広がる“応援しあえる相互信頼関係”を育み、その先にある新しい未来の可能性の実現に挑んでいます。

神奈川県出身の砂川さんは、学生時代から指導者としての活動をスタート。東京23FCではU-18コーチを経て、スポーツダイレクター兼U-18監督として育成と強化の両面を担いました。その後、2023年からはスペイン・バルセロナのクラブで指導者として活動。2024年には合同会社バロンピエスポーツマネジメントを立ち上げ、サッカー選手や指導者の育成支援、海外挑戦サポートなどを展開しています。そして2025年よりFC PHOENIXの監督に就任。関東サッカーリーグ昇格という挑戦に向け、ピッチの外の仲間も巻き込みながら、お互いを応援しあえるチームづくりに取り組んでいます。

そんな砂川さんが大事にしているのは“マインド”、とくにプロとしての意識です。それは、今目の前で起きていることが自分にとってどんな意味を持つのか、そこからどんな未来につなげるのか、そしてそのために何を選び、何を行動するのかという明確な意思を持つこと。戦術や技術を磨く前に、自分事としての意味を捉える。その姿勢はサッカーに限らず、あらゆる分野に通じるものです。そして共有されたマインドは信頼という基盤を築き、あらゆるアクションを加速させていきます。

一方で、現実はそう単純ではありません。どれだけマインドが整っていても、具体的な環境や支援がなければ前には進めない。むしろ、不足している状況のほうが当たり前かもしれません。逆に、マインドが整っていなければ、どれほど手厚いサポートがあっても力は結集しない。結果や表面的な価値だけで判断し、打算的な関係に陥ってしまえば、挑戦は長続きしません。けれども、それは未来を諦める理由にはならない。いかに逆境の中でも創造的であり続けられるか。そこにこそ、本当のプロの姿勢が問われています。

だからこそ、砂川さんがピッチの外にまで“マインド”を共有し、応援しあえる関係性を築いていく活動には大きな意味があります。目の前の勝敗や成果だけに囚われず、頼れる仲間を一人ずつ増やしていくこと。そして助けてもらう存在であるだけでなく、自分たちも誰かの力になれる存在であり続けること。その積み重ねが、クラブを単なる競技チームから、社会の価値を循環させていくための旗印へと昇華させていきます。それはきっと、誰もが自分の人生を“楽しい”ものにしていくためのプロセスでもあります。FC PHOENIXの平和サッカーの未来は、これからさらに大きく広がっていくはずです。Creative Guildもその仲間の一員として、その未来づくりに貢献していきます。

The Future Changes When We Support One Another
Building a Team from the “Mindset” — FC PHOENIX Head Coach Taiki Sunakawa

Creative Guild is a community based in Minato City, bringing together people who work and live in many different places, all seeking to create meaningful and joyful moments. In this Guild Directory, we introduce unique individuals connected through Creative Guild.　This time, we feature Taiki Sunakawa, Head Coach of FC PHOENIX and a Creative Guild partner. Grounded in the club’s philosophy of “Peace Soccer,” he is building a team from the inside out — starting with mindset — cultivating a culture of mutual trust and support that extends beyond the pitch and opens the door to new possibilities for the future.

Born in Kanagawa Prefecture, Sunakawa began coaching while still a university student. At Tokyo 23 FC, he served as U-18 coach before taking on the dual role of Sporting Director and U-18 Head Coach, overseeing both development and performance.

In 2023, he moved to Barcelona, Spain, where he coached youth players at a local club. In 2024, he founded Balompié Sports Management, a company dedicated to player and coach development, international pathways, and global football collaboration. In 2025, he was appointed Head Coach of FC PHOENIX. Now, he leads the club in its pursuit of promotion to the Kanto Soccer League, working not only with players but also with supporters and community members to build a team culture rooted in mutual encouragement and shared purpose.

At the core of Sunakawa’s philosophy is “mindset” — particularly a professional mindset. For him, being professional is not defined by contract status, but by intention. It means asking:
– What does this moment mean to me?
– How does it connect to the future I want to create?
– What choices and actions will I take because of that?
Before refining tactics or techniques, he believes players must first understand the meaning of their involvement. This principle extends beyond soccer; it applies to any field. When a shared mindset is established, trust becomes the foundation, and collective action accelerates.

Yet reality is rarely simple. No matter how strong the mindset, progress is difficult without tangible support or proper conditions. In fact, operating with limited resources may be the norm. At the same time, without the right mindset, even generous support cannot unite people effectively. When relationships become transactional — judged only by results or surface-level value — momentum fades and challenges do not last. Still, these constraints are not reasons to give up on the future. The true measure of professionalism lies in remaining creative and resilient, even under adversity.

That is why Sunakawa’s efforts to extend mindset beyond the pitch — to build a culture of mutual support — carry real significance. It is about looking beyond immediate wins or short-term outcomes, steadily expanding the circle of trusted allies. It is about not only receiving support but becoming someone who can contribute in return. Through that ongoing process, the club evolves from being merely a competitive team into a symbol of value circulation within society. Ultimately, this journey mirrors something universal: the process by which each of us strives to make our own lives more fulfilling and meaningful. The future of FC PHOENIX’s “Peace Soccer” is only beginning to unfold — and its impact will continue to grow.
