北九州・まちはチームだ 中川 康文さんの“しらす”な傾聴コミュニケーション

港区を起点にいろんなところで働く・暮らす、楽しい時間を創りたい人たちによるコミュニティCreative Guild。このギルド名鑑では、そんなCreative Guildでつながったユニークな方々をご紹介しています。今回ご紹介するのは、北九州の一般社団法人 まちはチームだの中心メンバーである 中川 康文さん。“しらす”の精神で傾聴するコミュニケーションを続け、地域に安心できる、立場や年代を超えた関係性を言葉と余白を整えることで育んでいます。

中川さんは、印刷会社や学習塾の塾長などを経てフリーランスとして独立。その後、北九州・小倉駅前のコワーキングスペース秘密基地でつながった仲間と一緒に、一般社団法人 まちはチームだ を設立しました。以降、北九州フードフェスティバルの運営や、小倉城庭園の館長など文化・観光分野で活躍。現在は、地域協働の人財育成プログラム「創生塾」の運営や、「すしの都 北九州」をはじめとする食分野の地域ブランディングにも関わるなど、次世代に向けた施策に注力しています。

そんな中川さんが大切にしているのは、“しらす”の精神。これは古事記に現れる概念で、現代風に言えば、囚われず・こだわらず・偏らず、自然体の自分であり続けながら、人や社会のありのままの姿をよく知り、その価値が全体へ行き渡るように関わる在り方です。そしてこの“しらす”を実践するために、中川さんは傾聴の姿勢を重要視。相手の想いに寄り添い、まずは聴き切る。そのうえで対話を始め、一つひとつ関係性を丁寧に育んでいく。こうして生まれる信頼のコミュニケーションは、立場や年代を超えた人のつながりという、地域にとっての大切な財産を築いています。

結局のところ、社会が良くなるためには、一つひとつの地域が良くなり、地域を構成する会社や組織が良くなること、なによりその根源にいる一人ひとりの日々が良くなることが欠かせません。それがウェルビーイング＝「よりよく在ること」の本質でもあります。しかし激しい変化が続く時代では、忙しさに追われるあまり、大枠だけを捉えて効率化を優先し、本来大切にすべき丁寧さを見失ってしまうことも少なくありません。私たちは、いま一度立ち止まり、目の前にある関係性や自分自身の状態を見つめ直す時期に来ているのかもしれません。

だからこそ、中川さんの “しらす” の精神に根ざした傾聴コミュニケーションは、これからの社会にとってますます重要になっていきます。使われる言葉の意味を丁寧に整え、関わる人の意図をそっと支え、未来へ動き出すための余白をつくる。それは、Creative Guildが大切にしている“楽しい”から始まる未来づくりの大前提でもあります。中川さんのような“しらす”な傾聴コミュニケーションを、ぜひそれぞれが自分の現場で実践しながら、心地よい関係性と未来をみんなで育てていきたいですね。

Nurturing Trusting Relationships Through Words and Spaciousness
The “Shirasu” Listening Practice of Yasufumi Nakagawa from Machi wa Team da in Kitakyushu

Creative Guild is a community of people who work and live across different places, all starting from Minato City, driven by the desire to create more joyful moments in everyday life. In this Guild Directory, we introduce the unique individuals connected through Creative Guild. This time, we feature Yasufumi Nakagawa, a core member of Machi wa Team da, a community organization based in Kitakyushu. Rooted in the spirit of shirasu, Nakagawa cultivates trusting, cross-generational relationships by listening deeply and creating the “spaciousness” where genuine dialogue can unfold.

After working in the printing industry and serving as a cram school director, Nakagawa became a freelance professional. His journey shifted when he encountered the coworking space “Himitsukichi（Secret Base）” near Kokura Station, where he met collaborators who would eventually co-found Machi wa Team da. Since then, he has contributed across cultural and civic fields—supporting the Kitakyushu Food Festival, serving as director of Kokura Castle Garden, and building bridges across communities. Today, he plays a central role in running the regional talent development program “Sousei Juku” and works on food-related regional branding projects such as “Sushi Capital Kitakyushu” with a focus on initiatives that support the next generation.

At the core of Nakagawa’s approach is the ancient Japanese concept of shirasu. Originating in the Kojiki, it can be understood today as a way of being that is free from fixation—unbound, unbiased, and natural. It means staying true to oneself while seeing people and society as they are, and helping their inherent value circulate throughout the whole. To embody this spirit, Nakagawa places great importance on the practice of deep listening. He listens fully before responding, honors each person’s story, and begins dialogue only after receiving their meaning. Through this patient weaving of relationships, he fosters trust that connects people across roles, backgrounds, and generations—becoming an invaluable asset to the community.

Ultimately, for society to flourish, each region must flourish; for regions to flourish, the organizations within them must flourish; and at the foundation of it all is the wellbeing of each individual’s everyday life. That is the true essence of “well-being”—the ability to live well in one’s own way. Yet in a fast-changing era, we often prioritize efficiency over care, overlook the subtle details, and lose the time needed to truly understand one another. Perhaps now is the moment for us to pause, reflect, and reconnect with the relationships and conditions right in front of us.

This is why Nakagawa’s shirasu-based approach to listening is becoming more important than ever. By clarifying the meaning behind each word, gently supporting people’s intentions, and cultivating the spaciousness required to take the first step toward the future, he helps create the conditions for collective wellbeing. It resonates deeply with Creative Guild’s belief that a joyful future begins from “fun” and from human connection. May we all learn from Nakagawa’s shirasu listening practice and bring it into our own communities—so together, we can cultivate relationships and futures that feel truly good to live in.
