港区を起点にいろんなところで働く・暮らす、楽しい時間を創りたい人たちによるコミュニティCreative Guild。このギルド名鑑ではそんなCreative Guildでつながったユニークな方々をご紹介しています。今回ご紹介するのは、東京都済生会中央病院で医療ソーシャルワーカーとして活躍する關口安孝さん。医療という枠を超えて、人と人の想いをつなぎ、次世代へと持続可能な平穏を届ける挑戦を続けています。

關口さんは、東京都済生会中央病院でこれまで医療ソーシャルワーカーとして活躍。がん相談や無料低額診療の活用支援などを通じて患者やその家族に寄り添い、医療のセーフティネットを担ってきています。その経験も活かして現在は、患者支援センターの課長として、地域コミュニティづくりにも注力。医療を取り巻く周辺領域、つまりライフスタイルや働き方なども含めたトータルケアの実現にも取り組んでいます。

そんな關口さんが大事にしていることを一言で言えば“平穏”です。それは次の世代もその先も、安心して自分の人生を楽しめる持続可能な社会。一人ひとりの在り方を尊重し、互いに支え合い、それぞれの“やりたい”を言葉にし、実現可能にする、社会全体の心理的安全を表す概念とも言えます。そしてこの平穏は個々人だけでなく、組織や地域社会としての新たな挑戦を支え、あらゆる壁を越えて成長と喜びを共有する未来への礎にもなるのです。

実際、冷静に見れば、社会は誰かの“やりたい”が形になり、つながり合って回ってきました。ところが近年、その“やりたい”が言語化されず、抽象的な“それらしい”概念で止まりがちです。そこでは具体的な行動が生まれず、停滞を引き起こします。バブル以前の成功体験にすがり“失われた30年”をいまも引きずる日本の現状は、まさにその象徴ではないでしょうか。

だからこそ今必要なことは、一人ひとりの想いに寄り添い、改めてそれぞれの“やりたい”を言葉にして、動かしていくこと。その土台には、關口さんの言う平穏が不可欠です。そしてそこに人のつながりを創り、コミュニティを築けば、人の想いをエネルギーに地域は自律的に回り始めます。Creative Guildもそんなコミュニティの一つとして、一人ひとりの“楽しい”をつないで、關口さんと一緒に動かしていきたいですね。

Yasutaka Sekiguchi’s Pursuit of Sustainable Peace of Mind for the Next Generation at 　Tokyo Saiseikai Central Hospital

Based in Minato City, Creative Guild is a community of people who want to create fun and meaningful moments in their work and daily lives. In this Guild Directory, we introduce unique members who are connected through Creative Guild. This time, we feature Yasutaka Sekiguchi, a medical social worker at Tokyo Saiseikai Central Hospital. Beyond the framework of medicine, he is connecting people’s aspirations and striving to pass on a sustainable sense of peace of mind to the next generation.

Mr. Sekiguchi has long served as a medical social worker at Tokyo Saiseikai Central Hospital, supporting patients and their families through cancer counseling and assistance with access to free or low-cost medical services—playing a key role in the healthcare safety net. Building on this experience, he now serves as Head of the Patient Support Center, where he is also focusing on building stronger community ties. His vision extends beyond clinical care into broader aspects of life, including lifestyle and work, aiming to realize a more holistic model of total care.

At the heart of Mr. Sekiguchi’s values lies one phrase: peace of mind. For him, it represents a sustainable society in which the next generation—and the generations after them—can enjoy their lives with security and confidence. It is about respecting each person’s way of being, supporting one another, and giving voice to individual aspirations so that they can be realized. In this sense, peace of mind also expands into a broader social dimension: a foundation of psychological safety that supports individuals, organizations, and communities alike. More than that, it becomes a cornerstone that enables new challenges, helping us transcend barriers and share growth and joy together.

If we look back, society has always been driven by someone’s desire to do something—those aspirations have taken shape, connected, and propelled us forward. Yet in recent years, such aspirations often remain unspoken, replaced by abstract notions that sound appealing but fail to inspire concrete action. This lack of articulation leads to stagnation. Japan’s continued struggle with the so-called “lost three decades,” still haunted by pre-bubble success stories, is a striking example.

That is why what we need now is to stand closer to each individual’s aspirations, help put them into words, and move them into action. At the foundation of this process lies the peace of mind that Mr. Sekiguchi emphasizes. When communities are built upon this peace of mind—when human connections are fostered—people’s aspirations themselves become the energy that powers a self-sustaining society.
