港区を起点にいろんなところで働く・暮らす、楽しい時間を創りたい人たちによるコミュニティCreative Guild。このギルド名鑑ではそんなCreative Guildでつながったユニークな方々をご紹介しています。今回ご紹介するのは、東京藝術大学で学び、絵画や立体・アニメーションを通じて“妖怪”や“日常の物語”を描き続ける画家・尾形凌さん。アートを“ひと”と“ひと”の橋渡しとし、言葉にならないメッセージを紡ぐことで、想像を超える未来を拓いています。

尾形さんは東京都港区の出身。高校時代には、三田・田町駅前の慶応仲通り商店街の居酒屋でおじさんをテーマに描いた個展「おじさん in 居酒屋」を開催。その後は東京藝術大学、そして大学院へと進学。日本画や浮世絵などの伝統から着想を得ながら、現代東京の日常や“妖怪”といった不可視の存在を題材に独自の表現を探求。また、身近な「おじさん」をモチーフに描いた『おじさん日記』を出版するなど活動の幅も広げています。2025年11月24日には、増上寺 光摂殿 大広間で開催される、「ONE STAGE CONCERT」にも出演します。

そんな尾形さんが大切にしているのは、アートを通じて”ひと”と”ひと”を橋渡しすることです。そこには、答えや正解を求めるのではなく、一人ひとりの物語や感情をそのまま尊重し合い、違いを共存させていくという姿勢があります。また、”ひと”と”ひと”だけでなく、自然や社会とのつながりが地続きで存在していることもアートを通じて表現。いま・この瞬間を大切にしながら、未来につながる多層的で多面的な“気づき”を届けています。

現代社会は効率性や経済性が優先され、文化や感性が軽視されがちになっています。SNSは世界中の人たちと容易につながれる一方で、“バズること”を優先し、体裁だけを整えて、日常の文化をむやみに消費してしまう傾向も否めません。そこでは一人ひとりが持っているユニークなストーリーを埋没させ、地域社会にある歴史や自然環境の美しさを忘れさせてしまうことにもつながり得ます。だからこそ、尾形さんのように丁寧に”ひと”に向き合い、”ひと”と自然と社会を橋渡しすることが今必要なのではないでしょうか。

Toward a Future Beyond Imagination:
Artist Ryo Ogata and the Art of Connecting People

Creative Guild is a community of people who live and work across various places, starting from Minato City, and who share the desire to create joyful experiences. In this Guild Directory, we highlight the unique individuals connected through Creative Guild. This time, we feature painter Ryo Ogata, a graduate of Tokyo University of the Arts, who continues to depict “yokai” (Japanese folk spirits) and everyday stories through painting, sculpture, and animation. For Ogata, art is a bridge between people—an expression that weaves messages beyond words, opening pathways to a future that surpasses imagination.

Ogata was born in Minato City, Tokyo. While still in high school, he held a solo exhibition titled Ojisan in Izakaya in the Keio Nakadori shopping street near Mita and Tamachi Stations, focusing on the everyday figure of the “middle-aged man.” He later went on to study at Tokyo University of the Arts and its graduate school, where he explored unique forms of expression inspired by traditional Japanese painting and ukiyo-e, while also drawing from the invisible presences of contemporary Tokyo life, such as yokai. His creative range extends further through works like Ojisan Diary, a published collection of illustrations inspired by familiar neighborhood “ojisan.” On November 24, 2025, Ogata will also take the stage at ONE STAGE CONCERT, held in the Grand Hall of Zojoji Temple’s Koshoden.

At the heart of Ogata’s work is a commitment to bridging people through art. Rather than searching for fixed answers or “correct” interpretations, his approach is to honor each individual’s story and emotions, allowing differences to coexist. Beyond people-to-people connections, his art also expresses our continuous ties with nature and society. By focusing on the here and now, he delivers multilayered insights that ripple outward into the future.

In today’s world, efficiency and economic value often overshadow culture and sensitivity. Social media, while connecting people globally, tends to prioritize “going viral,” leading to surface-level expression and the careless consumption of everyday culture. This is precisely why artists like Ogata—who carefully engage with people and bridge individuals, nature, and society—are so essential today.
