AIを超えて─プレイバック・シアターが築く人間らしいリーダーシップ

AIがかつてないスピードで進化する中で、リーダーシップのあり方も変わりつつあります。これからの時代に必要なのは、知識や判断力だけではなく、「創造性」「共感力」「人とつながる力」——AIには決して代替できない、人間ならではのスキルです。 それを探求するために、2025年2月1日、Creative Guildは「プレイバック・シアター」の体験ワークショップを開催しました。ビジネスリーダー、高校生、ウクライナ人のパフォーマーが集い、「ストーリーテリング」と「即興劇」がどのように壁を超え、人を惹きつけ、新しいリーダー像を生み出せるのかを体験しました。

プレイバック・シアターとは、参加者が自身の実体験を語り、それを俳優が即興で演じるという手法です。言葉を超えて心を通わせることができるこのアプローチは、教育やビジネス、チームビルディングなど、さまざまな場面で応用が可能です。今回のワークショップには、金融、IT、コンサルティング、物流業界のビジネスリーダーや高校生、ウクライナ人俳優が参加し、多様な視点が交わる貴重な場となりました。

セッションは、信頼関係を築くためのアイスブレイクからスタートし、プレイバック・シアターの基本を学んだ後、参加者がそれぞれのストーリーを語る時間へ。即興劇を演じる俳優たちは、何の打ち合わせもなく、それぞれのストーリーを演じました。それにもかかわらず、ストーリーの本質を見事に捉え、観る者の心を揺さぶるパフォーマンスを披露。参加者たちは「こんな形で自分の想いが表現されるなんて！」と驚き、深く感動していました。これこそが言葉では伝えきれない感情を共有できる、プレイバック・シアターならではの力なのです。

その後のディスカッションでは、参加者から「プレイバック・シアターは言語や文化の壁を超える」という声が多数。また、リーダーシップ研修にとどまらず、「教育や組織開発、さらには対立解消の場面でも活用できるのではないか」という新たな可能性も議論。そこから共通して見えてきたものは、AIであらゆるものが自動化できる時代だからこそ、リーダーに求められる「人間らしさ」と「個々のつながり」を築くための強力な手法にプレイバック・シアターはなり得るということでした。

Beyond AI – Playback Theatre as a Human-Centered Leadership Revolution

As AI continues to advance at an unprecedented pace, the role of leadership is evolving beyond knowledge and decision-making. True leadership now lies in creativity, empathy, and human connection—qualities that AI cannot replicate. To explore this, Creative Guild hosted a Playback Theatre Leadership Workshop on February 1, 2025, bringing together business leaders, students, and Ukrainian performers. The goal was simple yet profound: to experience how storytelling and improvisation can break barriers, foster engagement, and reshape leadership.

Playback Theatre is an interactive method where participants share real-life stories, which are then improvised and reenacted by trained actors. This process unlocks deep emotions, allowing people to connect in ways that go beyond words. The workshop attracted a uniquely diverse group—business professionals from finance, IT, consulting, and logistics, as well as high school students—all engaging with Ukrainian actors.

The session began with warm-up activities to build trust, followed by an introduction to Playback Theatre. Without any prior preparation, the actors performed each story, capturing its emotional essence in a way that left participants stunned and deeply moved. This powerful moment reinforced the idea that storytelling can unlock human connection in ways traditional communication cannot.

During the discussion, participants were amazed by how Playback Theatre transcends cultural and language barriers. Many saw its potential beyond leadership training—as a tool for education, team engagement, and even conflict resolution. Some envisioned using it to teach history and culture in schools, while others saw its value in corporate environments for building trust and collaboration. A shared realization emerged: in a world where AI can automate tasks, true leadership is about understanding human emotions and creating meaningful connections.

For Creative Guild, a community that starts everything with “FUN,” this Playback Theatre session proved to be an incredibly effective approach to developing leaders. This experience reinforced our belief in the importance of continuously providing opportunities for people to engage in such experiences within the Creative Guild community. It also highlighted the potential to introduce this as a leadership development program for businesses and organizations. That being said, the true value of this practice can only be fully understood through firsthand experience.
