港区を起点にいろんなところで働く・暮らす、楽しい時間を創りたい人たちによるコミュニティCreative Guild。このギルド名鑑ではそんなCreative Guildでつながったユニークな方々をご紹介しています。今回ご紹介するのは、映画『継承』を通じて、神社仏閣や地域文化を守る人々の姿を記録し続ける数間よし乃さん。言葉にならない想いや祈りを、世代や立場を越えて未来へつなぐ活動に取り組んでいます。

【Guild名鑑ファイルNo.144】数間 よし乃さん

福島県出身の写真家・映像クリエイターの数間さんは、東日本大震災での被災と避難を経て、全国約30カ所の神社を巡り「神社守り」と呼ばれる人々の姿を記録してきました。約5年かけて完成させた初のドキュメンタリー映画『継承』は、喪失から再生へ向かう祈りと日常を描きます。現在は日本語版上映と新たな英訳版制作を進め、クラウドファンディングや上映会を通じて、地域文化の継承と担い手への感謝を広げる活動を展開中です。

その根底には、「言葉にならない言葉をつなぐ」という哲学があります。優劣や評価を越え、老若男女それぞれの在り方を受け入れ、つなぐ場をつくること。その原点は、家族や地域との暮らし、被災経験、障がいのある子育てから得た“違い”を大切にする数間さん自身の在り方にあります。だからこそ、人が人として出会い、感じたことを自由に表現し合える関係性を紡ぎ、その想いを未来へと橋渡しすることが、数間さんの創作と活動の中核となっているのです。

一方で現代社会は“多様性”を掲げながらも、現実的には没個性化していることは否めません。多数派の意見や効率性が優先され、短期的な利益のために本質的な価値が切り捨てられてしまう現状があります。その結果、挑戦をためらい、自分が異質と扱われることを恐れて動き出す前に諦める人も少なくありません。つまり、私たちはこの風潮の中で知らず知らずのうちに、未来の可能性を閉ざしてしまっているのかもしれないのです。

数間さんの映画『継承』は、単なる映像作品ではなく、その制作プロセスを通じて世代や立場を越えた感謝とつながりを生む活動です。伝統や文化を守る人々の姿を共有することは、個々の活動の価値を再確認し、互いに補い合う関係性を築く土台になります。同時に、異なる価値観をつなぎ合わせ、真に多様性を尊重し、四季が巡るように地域文化を未来へつなげるための道を紡ぐことにもつながります。数間さんのこの活動に込められた祈りを、ぜひCreative Guildの場でも受け取り、未来に紡いでいきたいですね。

Director Yoshino Kazuma’s Prayer for the Future through the Film Inherit the Spirit

Creative Guild is a community based in Minato City, bringing together people from all walks of life—those who work, live, and create in different places—united by a shared wish to build joyful moments. In this Guild Directory, we introduce remarkable individuals connected through Creative Guild. This time, we feature Yoshino Kazuma, director of Inheritance the Sprint a filmmaker devoted to capturing the lives of those who safeguard Japan’s shrines, temples, and local traditions. Through her work, she seeks to carry unspoken feelings and prayers across generations and social boundaries into the future.

Born in Fukushima Prefecture, Yoshino is a photographer and filmmaker whose life was deeply shaped by the Great East Japan Earthquake and her experience of displacement. Over years of visiting some 30 shrines across the country, she has documented the jinja-mamori—“shrine guardians.” Her debut documentary, Inheritance, took five years to complete, portraying prayers and everyday life as they move from loss toward renewal. She is now presenting the Japanese version, creating an English edition, and working through crowdfunding and screenings to share gratitude for cultural stewards and to help preserve local traditions.

At the heart of her work lies a guiding philosophy: bridging hearts. It means creating spaces that transcend hierarchy and judgment, welcoming people of all ages and backgrounds. This outlook comes from her own life—rooted in family and community ties, shaped by disaster, and enriched by raising a child with disabilities. For Yoshino, it is vital to weave relationships where people meet as human beings, express themselves freely, and pass heartfelt moments forward. This is the core of her creative and community work.

Yet today’s society, while praising “diversity,” often drifts toward conformity. Majority views and efficiency take precedence, and essential values are sometimes abandoned for short-term gain. Many hesitate to take risks, fearing the label of “different,” and give up before even starting. In doing so, we may be quietly closing off the possibilities of the future.

Inheritance the Spirit is more than a film—it is a process that generates gratitude and connection across generations and backgrounds. Sharing the lives of those who protect traditions reaffirms the value of their work and lays the groundwork for mutual support. At the same time, it bridges differing perspectives, honors genuine diversity, and, like the turning of the seasons, carries local culture into the future. Yoshino’s prayer, woven into this project, is one we hope will be embraced within Creative Guild and carried forward together.
